About Mediterranean Games - Wrestling (Greco-Roman)

Consult here the fixed timetable for every sports competition and the confirmed calendar for the Mediterranean Games.

Greco-Roman wrestling is a sport discipline that has existed for millennia and was born as a method for dispute resolution, in a free way. In this combat sport, each participant used their own techniques to defeat their opponent without beating them. In order to win the fight, the wrestler must bring the opponent down to the ground maintaining their two shoulders fixed on the mat, or it is also possible to win by points. However, each style has their own regulations.

There will be two wrestling disciplines in the Mediterranean Games:

- Greco-Roman
- Freestyle

Wrestling was first contested in the Mediterranean Games in the first Games, held in Alexandria (Egypt) in 1951.
