CONCERTS AC/DC
AC/DC will be on July 12 and 16 at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, Madrid, with their Power Up Tour.
ABOUT AC/DC
The rock group AC/DC was formed in Australia in 1973. Its founders were two Scottish brothers named Malcolm and Angus Young. Later, to complete the group were singer Dave Evans, drummer Colin Burgess and bassist Larry Van Kriedt. Their first performance took place in a small Sydney pub on New Year's Day 1974. It should be noted that, during the early stages of the group, instability marked their concerts.
The personal problems between them and the little involvement of some of the members caused substitutions to occur. That same year Bon Scott arrived as a new vocalist. The band's first album was High Voltage, released in 1975. Despite being well received in Oceania, they were still almost unknown in the rest of the world. This changed with his collaboration with Atlantic Records, an American record company.
This contract opened the doors for them to tour Europe. After this, they released several albums with great success. It wasn't until 1979, with Highway to Hell, that they really got to open the doors of the United States. The album quickly surpassed one million copies sold. Shortly after, the loss of Bon Scott to alcohol poisoning caused the band to falter.
They then decided to hire Brian Johnson. The band's seventh title, Back in Black, energized its members and was number one five weeks in a row in the United States. It then spent another five months in the top ten best sellers. This album has exceeded 22 million copies sold.
The fame of the group did not stop increasing and the sales of previous albums skyrocketed. However, by the mid-1980s the popularity had dropped a lot. After a few years, they came back stronger than ever in the early 1990s. In 1991 the group performed at a Moscow airfield. Up to 500,000 people attended. It is one of the ten most attended concerts in history.
Ten years passed until the group had a new sales success. Stiff Upper Lip sold over two million records. Four years later they made a compilation with the best of their career that included their performances in Back in Black and Family Jewels.
In December 2009 the band gave several concerts in Buenos Aires. The chosen place was the River Plate stadium. They had more than 60,000 spectators in each of their three performances. Five years later, Malcolm Young had to give up music for health reasons and AC/DC released a new album titled Rock or Bust.
On November 13, 2020, the band's latest title, Power Up, was released. It did so with important changes in its cast, since several of its members had to leave the formation for different reasons. However, that has not prevented them from continuing to enjoy music and recalling classic songs that made them successful. At the moment Angus Young is the only one of the original members who is still active.
